Princess Wencheng

Tibetan: རྒྱ་བཟའ་ཀོང་ཇོ་, Wylie: rgya bza’ kong jo.

The Chinese princess who married Songtsen Gampo སྲོང་བཙན་སྒམ་པོ་ and played an important role in the establishment of Buddhism in Tibet. She is popularly known in Tibet as Gyasa, or ‘Chinese wife’. The Jowo Mikyö Dorje sacred statue of Buddha Shakyamuni in Ramoche Temple, Lhasa is said to have been brought to Tibet from China by princess Wencheng.
