Tibetan: བཀའ་འགྱུར་, Wylie: bka’ ‘gyur, English: Translated Words.

The Tibetan Buddhist Canon is divided into two: The actual words of the Buddha contained in the Kangyur, and the commentaries on the teachings of the Buddha composed by the great masters (pandits) of India, that are contained in the Tengyur.

The Kangyur is the collection of the translated teachings of the Buddha and regarded as “the word of the Buddha”. It contains both the sutras and the tantras.
